2016 Theme: "Autism and the 2030 Agenda: Inclusion and Neurodiversity"
Autism and other forms of disability are part of the human experience that contributes to human diversity. As such, the United Nations has emphasized the need to mainstream disability in the Organization’s development agenda. Mainstreaming disability requires an integral approach in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies and programmes in all political, economic and societal spheres, so that inequality is not perpetuated.
In September 2015, the UN General Assembly adopted the ambitious new 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets that promise to leave no one behind.
While all SDGs are universally applicable, disability and persons with disabilities are explicitly referenced in the following goals: 4) Quality Education; 8) Decent Work and Economic Growth; 10) Reduced Inequalities; 11) Sustainable Cities and Communities; and 17) Partnerships for the Goals.
This year’s observance will look ahead to 2030 and reflect on the new SDGs and their implications for improving the lives of people with autism.

2015 - A Year of The Goat
When Chinese New Year is Celebrated
Officially Chinese New Year is celebrated on Chuyi (初一 /choo-ee/) the very first day of the new year, Chinese New Year's Day, and Chuxi (除夕 /choo-sshee/), the last day of the previous year, Chinese New Year's Eve.
Traditionally though celebrations can start much earlier than Chinese New Year's Eve. Some people start to celebrate from three weeks before. The date is called Laba (腊八 /laa-baa/) the eighth day of the twelfth Chinese month, while more people celebrate from one week before — the 23rd of the twelfth month.
There are also two different closing dates. Officially it is the day when the one week holiday ends, usually the sixth day of Chinese New Year. 2015 — a Goat Year

2014 YEAR OF THE HORSE
Horse is one of Chinese favorite animals. Horse provides a good and quick transportation for people before automobiles. Horse can give people a ride to their destination. Therefore, horse is not only a symbol of traveling, but also a sign of speedy success.
Horses like to compete with others. They pursuit for their freedom, passion and leadership. Therefore, people will have busy schedule for their goal in the year of Horse. The refrain "Jai Guru Deva Om" is a mantra intended to lull the mind into a higher consciousness. The words are in Sanskrit, and they mean "I give thanks to Guru Dev," who was the teacher of The Maharishi. The "Om" at the end is the drawn out "oooohm" used in meditation to relate to the natural vibration of the universe. While visiting the Maharishi in Rishikesh, John purchased a set of brass bracelets with the words "Jai Guru Dev" imprinted on them. The bracelets are now in the possession of Julian Lennon and were on display at the "White Feather-The Spirit Of John Lennon" exhibit at the Beatles Story in Liverpool.
